New Earth Creatures ~ Let’s dance the Jive ~

earthemblem.gifSummary: 2 brand new Earth creatures with one being an Earth Phantom. Two additional cards to confirm the previous videoclip cracking. (Minor correction in one of the two)

Where do cool dwarves hang out? The Hammer Valley! Dwarves love to *dance the Jive.

* In Japanese Jitterbug is called “Zilba” and so does the name of the new Earth Hero.

Novogus Undead Marching Band (R)

Race – Undead
Affiliation – Val na Vos

Summon/Activation – 3/2
HP/Attack – 2/0

– While allied undead creature is placed on the adjacent field, other allied undead creatures will gain decoy ability against all enemy creatures.
– Destroy Undead Novogus Marching Band if it is on a wood field.

Comment: I can see this being useful in well thought out Undead Race decks. Remeber Vamus? Or Novogus Sinbearer? these creatures abilities change based on the number of undead creatures in the graveyard. So using decoy you can protect other important creatures, but the decoy themselves are not wasted. More undead is destroyed, more power to Vamus and Sinbearer. So later when you cast Vamus on non-Earth field, you may have a tremendous attack power. Or turn the Sinbearer into ultimate mana generator. Now this seems like true strategy + combo.

Dwarf Battle Forge (UC)

Race – Base
Affiliation – Hammer Valley

Summon/Activation – 4/3
HP/Attack – 5/0

– Any Fire fields adjacent to Dwarf Battle Forge are also treated as Earth fields.
– All allied Dwarf creatures add 1 to their attack.
– Destroy Dwarf Battle Forge if it is on a Wood field.

Dwarf Warbanner (UC)

Race – Dwarf
Affiliation – Hammer Valley
Summon/Activation – 4/2
HP/Attack – 4/0

– All dwarf creatures subtract X from their attack and gain X protection, where X is equal to number of each dwarf on the board.

Priest of Hammer, Zilba (Phantom UR)

Race – Hero
Affiliation – Hammer Valley
Summon/Activation – 5/3
HP/Attack – 5/1+

– Priest of Hammer, Zilba Magic Attacks a target creature with attack power equal to 1 plus X, where X is equal to the number of mana the owner of this creature has.
– Gain 1 mana during the owner’s own resolution phase.

Comment: Now 12 out of 16 Earth Creatures are revealed. Among these there are 3 ultrarares, I would guess there will be one more ultrarare in each element, which would be equivalent of God in the Set.1 i.e. highly mana expensive creatures.

Novogus Undead Marching Band and Dwarf Battle Forge are probably both chaff. The Warbanner could be decent if they ever get around to making some playable dwarves. As it stands now, chaff. I’m pretty sure the phantom is overcosted, and like that other previously posted card, you’re rarely going to get much of a damage bonus from this guy what with his high casting and activation costs. Gaining a mana turn is strong though, and I suppose if you’re able to get this guy out on an earth field, you’ve got a difficult to kill (at least more so than the current earth tower) mana generator, which is always potentially good, so maybe it’ll be playable in some sort of deck.

I hope they make enough dwarves to make my 7 dwarves deck. Don’t know who Snow White would be.

    Zilba + Wormak = Ouch.

Keep in mind that”Priest of Hammer, Zilba Magic Attacks a target creature with attack power equal to 1 plus X, where X is equal to the number of mana the owner has.” doesn’t neccessarily mean YOUR mana. Could mean the opponent’s, only time will tell.

Damn it. That’s good catch. It’s actually translation error. It specifically says the owner of this creature (= Zilba) That’s why it makes this card much harder to use. With the cost of 5 mana, I feel like gaining 1 mana back seems not enough… but at least it has 5 HP. So when it’s on wood field, it’s safe to assume he will survive minimum of two resolution phase, and perhaps on average 3 resolution phases, which means you gain 3 mana back + 1 exit mana. So might not be too bad of investment. I still think Wormak is much better creature, though.

I see Zilba as Dungeon’s Ten Tyrants with Attack & 1 extra health, but with 1 additional mana cost.

I’m not so sure about Marching Band, but I think it can be part of well thought out strategy plan. As for Forge, I think this card will be the key card for uni-color deck since this is the only creature that gives the fieldmorph ability for Earth field. So aside the other abilities, just because of the fieldmorph ability, I speculate we will see the use of this card quite bit among people who uses Earth element based decks.
