Sample Deck ~ Possession Deck ~

Summary: In this blog entry, I will discuss about Possession/Control Deck and at the end of blog entry I have also listed the sample possession deck from EOJ Connection.

What is Possesion/Control Deck?

This is a defensive deck. The theme of this deck is by controlling/possessing opponent’s creatures, you prevent opponent’s creatures attacking your creatures so your creatures remains on the board longer and eventually occupies five fields before the opponent does.

There are only three cards in Set.1 that has possession ability. They are Warden Hilda, Imposter Queen Anfisa, and Tentacle Possession.

That’s not a bad deck. I like possession in this game and I’m hoping more possession cards come in set 2. I would use didi instead of latoo though because he combines well with hilda.

I’ve just noticed the ghost ship in the other post:) Looks great and just that card alone helps make possession decks much stronger.

I agree with you, the ghost ship will likely bring back possession deck in force. When I look at the actual deck shown, I see literally no brutal firepower, and no dodge/protection. Flame magus, spitters and tentacles are just too easy to kill. That’s almost one third of the deck! So if the possession doesn’t kick in fast, you’re in trouble…

But drop the tentacles, and slide in a few ghost ships and ouch…

After the comment from both of you, I got suspicious about possibly making translation error for the Ghostship because you are right with just only 1 additional mana, Ghostship is so much better creature.

So I went to double check the source and it looks like it is indeed much better creature, unless original source is wrong.

I don’t personally use possession deck, but I presume more possession ability creatures the better the deck becomes, so I presume even with Ghostship, Tentacle will still be many people’s deck.

Possession is great but there really isn’t enough cards in set 1 to make an effective deck. The sample deck is good, but it’s not so much a possession themed deck as a deck with a few possession cards in it.

What should, at least in theory, be a better deck would be a switch/possession deck, with Elven Death Dancer, Spider Ninja, etc. That way you can not only gain possession of the opponent’s creatures on certain fields, but actually put his creatures on those fields as you see fit. It makes for a complicated strategy I know, but in theory should result in an almost unbeatable deck.

I say in theory only because I don’t have quite enough cards to make this deck a reality just yet, but as soon as I do I’ll be testing the idea thoroughly.

Just saw the Biolith Transporter post. There’s another switch creature to think about. With that and the ghost ship in set 2 maybe my idea will work better than I expected.

Actually that’s very interesting idea. You are right that there just isn’t enough Possession Creatures in the Set.1. So far in the Set.2, two new creatures with possession are identified. So in theory you can have 6 more cards in your deck that have possession, which makes total 11 creatures with possession.

Also fieldmorph spells will help Hilda. But I see even with these changes switch idea would work well with Possession.
