One of the most unique and perhaps innovative dTCG of 2014 now has its forth expansion coming on its way.
Now a days, it seems like a standard to have many new online games to be called “beta” and goes on for years. dTCG are no exception. However, this time Infinity Wars decided to lift the “beta” tag and going to official release.
One of the most exciting part of the TCG/CCG is their continuous refreshment, which is only possible when the game introduces new mechanics. With the recent release of new set (forth set/third expansion), Infinity Wars certainly introduces new mechanics. One of the mechanics that caught my attention is “titan mechanics”.
The game itself is Beta status though they have had several expansions already. However, the android client is now available as early alpha status i.e. still early stage of development so bugs are expected and perhaps some of the functionality may be missing in comparison to the desktop version. Despite all these warning, it seems to work.
When I first saw the Infinity Wars, while it was still in closed Alpha, one of the first thing that struck me for its great potential is that in the game of Infinity Wars, there is no fundamental colors as in Magic, HEX, or Carte or fundamental classes as in WOW TCG, Shaodw Era. Instead, Elphie Coyle said the game will continue to expand with new factions i.e. colors. Such design makes the game versatile and allows separate faction to specialize in separate things, which makes new players especially easy to understand the core mechanics of the game as you choose a color, you know what the play style. This new expansion is no exception to the rule. They have added a new faction.
Infinity Wars is a rather unique dTCG that utilized innovated simultaneous play system. The game has a lot to offer and a great potential. The only reason I did not list this as one of the big 3 dTCG is simply the developer is not a major company; otherwise, the game itself have as equal potential as the others. New official core set, Ascension, presale begins today.
When I originally introduced this dTCG, I have talked about its potential based on the way the game is set up i.e. parallel universe. The game has certainly showed its power quickly with continued addition of new factions rather than just cards. In fact, the Elphie Coyle, CEO of Lightmare, has mentioned potential of adding other known franchise to the game as his potential goal. Now I have had totally forgot about this. Lightmare shown what it can do.
Lightmares Christmas gift to those who are currently in beta is special promo/alternative art version of the secluded constructor. This is valid until Jan 5th, and all you have to do is log in.
The year 2013 was certainly a big dTCG year. The big 3 (Hearthstone, HEX, and Solforge) all became playable. But that’s not all the story. There were other great dTCGs. Among them, personally Infinity Wars deserves the one of the top spot for its game’s potential. I am glad to see the game continues to show its evolution because the game really has the potential. December 13 will be another big step of Infinity Wars.
